Dr Bernard graduated from Otago Medical School in New Zealand in 1997. He served in various places in Sarawak before qualifying as an orthopaedic surgeon in 2007 after completing Masters in Orthopaedics training (UKM).

As a specialist, he has a particular interest in joint replacement surgery, with sub specialty training programme under MOH with fellowship training stint in Knee Arthroplasty in Samsung Medical Centre (Seoul) 2009 and Hip arthroplasty in Prince Charles Hospital (Brisbane) in 2010.

He was appointed chief of Joint Replacement Unit, Kuala Lumpur GH, a tertiary referral centre for MOH in 2012. His particular interest is in advanced technology assisted joint replacement surgeries and revision joint replacement surgeries. He is also appointed Trainer Consultant for Zimmer-Biomet Inc, frequently becoming total knee replacement surgical instructor for cadaveric workshop in Bangkok for young orthopaedic surgeons from Asia Pacific countries.

Dr Bernard joins Borneo Medical Centre as Consultant Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement Surgeon in January 2016. Outside work, He enjoys a game of golf.

Dr. Bong Chun Haw (CH) is an orthopaedic surgeon and fellowship-trained Arthroplasty surgeon. He specializes in general orthopaedic and trauma surgery; and sub-specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery.

Dr. Bong CH is a graduate of the School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2007. He then completed his orthopaedic residency training at University of Malaya (UM) in 2015. Since then, he has served as an orthopaedic surgeon in Sarawak General Hospital. Subsequently, he pursued his subspecialty training in Arthroplasty surgery in Ministry of Health, Malaysia and Chungbuk National University Hospital (CBNUH), Cheongju, South Korea. He is a member of numerous professional societies including the Malaysia Orthopaedic Association (MOA) and the Malaysian Society for Hip and Knee Surgeons (MSHKS).

Dr. Bong CH’s goal is to restore function and active lifestyle for his patients, to get them back to what activities they once enjoyed, while utilizing the safest, most effective, and advanced treatment options.
